The 56th Biennale di Venezia will animate the city of Venice from xxxx through xxx, 20xx. Since this international art exhibition was first organized in 1895, the green expanse of the Napoleonic-era Giardini has been the traditional venue for the most prestigious contemporary artists to display their works. The ancient Arsenale complex was renovated in the early 1980’s for the promotion of younger artists. Before opening to thousands of visitors, the Biennale host a three-day Vernissage, or “preview” of the main event exclusively to ticket holders.
Departing from Milan train station, you will reach Venice, where your private driver will take you to the exhibition. Your private guide will lead your visit to the international pavilions in the morning in the Gardens area, built in 1894 and housing 29 pavilions built by various nations since. Set amidst tall trees, the pavilions themselves form a sort of anthology of important twentieth-century architecture: Aalto, Hoffmann, Rietveld, Scarpa, and Stirling are just some of the famous architects who worked here.
After lunch in a typical Venetian bacaro, your private guide will lead you to the Arsenal, where you will have the afternoon to admire the artworks displayed in its brick buildings. Here in the Arsenale, you will enjoy works by younger, less established artists are displayed in this complex of brick buildings, originally built in the 1300’s as shipyards for the construction of Venice’s impressive maritime fleet.
At night you will check in at a 4-star hotel in Venice and the morning after, your guide will meet you in the lobby of your hotel and take you on a half-day walking tour of Venice, revealing the local secrets of the magical city. After the tour you will have plenty of time to catch your train back to Milan.
