About the hotel
A visit to the Grotta Giusti Natural Spa Resort is a truly unique experience. After all, it’s not every day that you get to access tap thermal water in your room or visit a natural thermal cave that was discovered in the mid 19th century. Here is a property that is beautiful inside and out, with guestrooms boasting antique furniture and a refined style, and the outside offering a charming scenes from the countryside in Tuscany.
Grotta Giusti Natural Spa Resort, a member of the Small Luxury Hotels of the World, is situated in Monsummano Terme, halfway between Florence and Pisa. This magnificent 19th century villa once belonged to the Italian poet, Giuseppe Giusti, and was recently refurbished to the highest standards of comfort.
The hotel features 58 guestrooms and six Junior Suites, all tastefully furnished with traditional Italian furniture and king size beds. Bathrooms are lavishly decorated in white Carrara marble with thermal water on tap. Superior rooms are situated in the main villa, while the others are in the modern wing of the hotel. Some rooms have a balcony, and guests can choose between a view of the surrounding park and a panoramic view of the distant mountains.
Grotta Giusti's biggest perk is its Spa, boasting its own thermal cave with an underground, hot water lake where guests can enjoy a relaxing and detoxifying steam bath in evocative surroundings right out of Dante's Inferno In addition, a wide variety of Spa services can be booked: mud therapy, ozone baths, inhalation treatments and a whole range of Oriental and Western massages (including Swedish, California and lymphatic drainage massages). Aesthetic treatments under the supervision of expert therapists and the services of a dietitian are available as well.
Dining at Grotta Giusti Natural Spa Resort offers a choice of three restaurants: healthy seasonal Tuscan cuisine is served at La Veranda Restaurant or on the terrace at La Pergola, while express lunches, snacks and herbal teas are on the menu at the new Bioquam Cafe' beside the thermal swimming pool. The hotel bar offers traditional cocktails and personalized "health drinks" prepared with all-natural ingredients.
The hotel is set in a beautiful park filled with scented flowers and centuries-old trees. A freshwater swimming pool and a brand-new, open air thermal swimming pool with a spectacular waterfall and underwater hydro-massage are at guest's disposal, along with tennis courts and the Percorso Vita - a specially-designed fitness route through the park. Just a few minutes from the hotel is the 18-hole La Vecchia Pievaccia golf course, in a landscape of rolling hills covered in olive trees, with an unparalleled view of the whole Valdinievole.
