About the hotel
Right in step with the creation of the pedestrian zone around Piazza Duomo, the Hotel Brunelleschi is cleverly incorporated within the walls of a 6th century Byzantine tower and a 12th century church. It juxtaposes modern design elements like glass staircases with historic elements such as old stone walls, and houses a private museum displaying ancient Roman artifacts unearthed during hotel's construction.
The 94 guestrooms include five suites, complete with a Jacuzzi-type whirlpool bath (the duplex Pool Suite boasts two: one in the bathroom and another perched on the private rooftop terrace with a spectacular view of Brunelleschi's Dome, so close that you feel as if you could reach out and touch it). All have a lovely, classic decor - parquet floors in oak, crisp white linens, wall panel molding and, in some rooms, four-poster canopy beds or dramatic contemporary headboards. Modern marble bathrooms with rain showerheads are stocked with exclusive Maison Dr Vranjes bath products.
Breakfast is a lavish buffet of cold meats, cheeses, yogurt, marinated salmon, scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, oven-roasted potatoes and a selection of fresh fruit, pastries, breads, fruit juices and even Prosecco. The ground floor Osteria della Pagliazza is the perfect spot for an casual Tuscan lunch or dinner, and tables are set up in the charming square in front of the hotel in warm weather. Chef Simone Bertaccini creates exquisite gourmet cuisine in the intimate Santa Elisabetta Restaurant, with a vegan menu catering to those with special dietary needs. A cocktail or glass of wine in the Tower Bar is a good way to relax after a day of sightseeing.
Hotel Brunelleschi is equipped with a 4-star fitness center where the latest Technogym machines, weights, treadmills, a stepper, stationary bikes and exercise mats and balls for aerobics and pilates make it easy to stay in shape even while on vacation.
