Feed your sweet tooth on this delectable, 4-hour private walking tour to some of Venice's best cake, coffee, chocolate and ice cream shops in the sestieri of San Marco and San Polo, on opposite sides of the Grand Canal. As you walk through the narrow streets, you will learn about the city and its inhabitants: the culinary customs, the history of sugar and coffee and the tradition of cake making in the Veneto.
Did you know that coffee was first introduced to Europe from Egypt through Venice? You will enjoy a tiny cup of freshly brewed espresso at the tour’s first stop, a coffee roaster. Then comes a traditional pastry shopwhere you will taste some typical Venetian cakes and desserts such as Focaccia Veneziana, Pan del Doge Bussolai and Baci in gondola. Along with the pastries, you can decide to have one more shot of coffee or a cappuccino.
Afterwards, you will head to one of Venice's best artisanal chocolate shops where sweet treats have been created since the beginning of the 1900's. Here you will sit down for a chocolate tasting that is a feast for all your senses. Before heading back to your hotel, you will stop by an artisan gelateria to try some seasonal flavors. And a traditional gondola ferry will be used to cross the Grand Canal, just like the locals do!
