Learn to Cook a Tuscan Meal

  • City: San Donnino (Certaldo)
  • Duration: Approximately 4 hours (included cooking lesson - 3 hours)

Join Chef Emma Mantovani in her farmhouse outside Certaldo and learn to make an authentic Tuscan meal.

Overview

The cooking class of Chef Emma Mantovani takes place in her farmhouse situated on a top of a hill, with a 360 degree view on the Val d'Elsa, only 10 miles from San Gimignano.

During the cooking class you will have the opportunity to learn how to create wonderful Tuscan dishes, from antipasti to dessert; each recipe will be accompanied by Emma's Tuscan trade secrets. During the preparation, you'll also get to taste all the ingredients used such as fresh vegetables, pecorino cheese and Emma's homemade olive oil.

At the end of the lesson, seated on a beautiful terrace overlooking the Tuscan countryside, you will enjoy the 4-course meal that you personally cooked. This is an unforgettable experience -- come discover the taste of Tuscany, deep in the heart of Chianti, where some of Italy's most famous wines are made.

What a wonderful day. Emma welcomed us into her home and created a wonderful cooking experience. There were no fancy pot and pans, just cooking with fresh herbs from her garden, oil from her own oil trees and her love for cooking. Her kindness and warmth made for a delightful afternoon. Then enjoying eating under the Tuscan sun with good friends.

This is a great thing to do for couples who want to learn a bit of Italian cooking. It is out of the way so be prepared for a drive escpecially if your staying in Florence. I would suggest that you hire a driver for this one, we hired an Italian driver and he got lost so that tells you what others will do. The instructor was so nice she answered all of our questions and because her husband knew the area so well he was able to get us back to our hotel with no problem.

This was a fantastic experience, and one of the highlights of our entire trip. The staff was superb, informative, and we couldn't believe how easy it can be to make fresh pasta! Wonderful course, well worth the time and money.

Our afternoon and evening could not have been more perfect! Our hosts picked us up in Florence and then transported us to the magical world that is the Tuscany countryside. Their beautifully renovated farmhouse sits high atop a hill overlooking the valley and San Gimignano in the distance. The cooking class, both demonstration and hands-on, was great fun as we shared our cooking experiences and traditions with the chef. Our menu had all the freshest ingredients and he was very sensitive to any dietary restrictions or preferences. Our meal was then exquisitely served to us on the patio where many memorable pictures were taken. We would highly recommend this experience with a 10 star rating!
