Learn to Cook a Roman Meal

Learn to Cook a Roman Meal

  • City: Rome
  • Duration: Approximately 3 hours

In this intimate, hands-on cooking class you will learn how to make a traditional Roman meal using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

Overview

When in Rome.....cook as the Romans do! The Eternal City is famous for a variety of things -- the Colosseum, the Pope, its ancient ruins -- but one thing that many tourists tend to overlook is its centuries-old culinary tradition. What would Italian cuisine be without tasty Roman specialties like saltimbocca alla romana, spaghetti alla carbonara or Jewish style artichokes?

This cooking class takes place in a professionally equipped home kitchen in the Prati neighborhood of Rome, just a stone's throw from St. Peter's and the Vatican. In this private, hands-on cooking class you will learn how to make a traditional Roman meal using fresh, seasonal ingredients.

This class not only teaches you how to prepare a complete menu of dishes, it also covers presentation and garnishing; handy tricks to enhance prepared dishes and lend confidence to the overall culinary experience. And after your class, you'll sit down to a gourmet feast you can be proud of -- buon appetito!

From the moment we arrived it was a beautiful experience. Valeria greeted us at the curb. The school is clean, well organized and we felt right at home. The menu was expertly planned, her instructions were spot on, and she was very patient. We had our 16 year old daughter and 5 year old daughter. She was equally attentive to all of us. I can’t express how much we enjoyed this experience. We were given the recipes and have made them with our friends several times since our return home. This is a must for the experienced chef and the novice alike. The owner is a very special woman with a warm and caring spirit.

A wonderful way to spend an evening. Select your menu and you learn everything you need to know to prepare some wonderful dishes.

The eight of us girls had a lovely time at the cooking course, Valeria was lovely and very clear in explaining everything, it was fantastic that she was Italian herself of course. There are a couple of things I would like to suggest. One is that you have different levels of cooking courses - ie. we all found the meal very easy to follow and in fact I had made a similar meal at a cooking course in London. Perhaps having another level up for those who feel that they are already good in the kitchen would be a good idea. I also think that being able to sit at a table to eat would be good, rather than on our laps, but that is not so important. We thank you for a great day!
