On this full-day private excursion and cooking lesson you will embark on a gourmet sailing adventure that takes you far away from the bustling city of Venice to discover the peace and quiet of its surrounding s lagoon, where birdsong replaces the chattering crowds of tourists.

You will meet Chef Mauro for an early morning tour of the Rialto market to buy the fresh fish and vegetables needed for the cooking lesson and lunch. With purchases in hand, you'll go with him to board the Eolo. This exquisitely restored wooden bragozzo, whose design dates back to the days of the Doges, is one of the few remaining in the Venetian lagoon. Its gaily-colored sails make a beautiful sight as they billow in the breeze.

Using a combination of sails and motor, the Eolo will cruise slowly through the salt marshes of the northern lagoon, as you munch on appetizers and the hand's-on cooking lesson begins. When lunch is ready, the boat will anchor near the island of S. Erasmo or Torcello so you can enjoy a sumptuous four-course meal with wine.

Service includes: Optional visit to the Rialto Market; 3-hour hands-on cooking class; four-course meal on board with the food you have personally cooked; visit to either the island of San Francesco del Deserto or the island of Lazzareto Nuovo.

Sample Menu:

  • Appetizers in navigation: chickpea cream with savory and thyme on celery; crispy anchovies with aromatic herbs; fried cod balls in extra-virgin olive oil
  • On-board appetizer: cartoccio of filet of weever fish with aromatic herbs
  • First Course: open raviolo with wild hops and white silene flowers
  • Main course: baked Stargazer fish with potatoes and thyme
  • Dessert: "Seven Veils" pastry
Please note that this is not a fixed menu and is subject to the seasonal availability of products from the market. The primarily seafood menu of typical Venetian dishes includes two appetizers (one served during navigation); first course; main course and dessert. Fine regional wines are paired with each course.

Transportation from/to the meeting point is NOT included in the total price. Select Italy will be happy to arrange a private transfer for a supplemental fee.
