Overview

Not everyone has a Italian grandmother... but that doesn't mean you can't learn to cook like one! The region of Le Marche has such a rich tradition of food and wine that it is one of the most natural locations for a hands-on cooking lesson. All menus will highlight the freshness and uniqueness of the local products used and will be cooked in the traditional manner.

Maria is the expert cook who will demonstrate clear and simple regional cooking techniques in the well-equipped restaurant kitchen of the Locanda del Gusto, situated in Comunanza, a medieval village with a stupendous view of the Sibelline mountain range. Her recipes feature prized IGP and DOP ingredients, such as saffron and apples, which are cultivated in this mountainous terrain.

As you cook together, Maria shares personal anecdotes and stories of the Marchigian culture and its age-old traditions, habits and culinary customs. Afterwards you will sit down and enjoy a delicious, 3-course meal of which you can be proud!

Sample Menu:

  • Seasonal grilled vegetables, marinated in olive oil and parsley; during the lunch, this dish will be served with cured meats and local cheeses
  • Handmade ravioli with a filling of minced pork fillet and red apples from the Monti Sibillini (presidio Slow Food) in a saffron cream sauce; the saffron is also grown in the Monti Sibillini
  • Pesche al vino cotto (peaches in cooked wine)
The meal includes a welcome aperitif, mineral water, locally produced wine, fresh fruit, and bread.
