This 6-hour tour will introduce you to the products of Ceretto Winery brand and includes a delicious lunch of traditional Piedmont dishes, accompanied by an exclusive selection of wines.
Alba is a picturesque, medieval town in the heart of Piedmont. It is the capital of the Langhe and is known worldwide for its prestigious truffles and red Barolo and Barbaresco wines. Here, modern architects have been rethinking the winery as a contemporary expression of tradition and innovation, agriculture and technology, and production and hospitality.
Departing from and returning to your hotel in Alba or La Morra, this tour will introduce you to various aspects of the Ceretto brand. First stop is the colorful, little Cappella delle Brunate outside La Morra. Built in 1914 for the people who worked in the surrounding vineyards, this unconsecrated chapel gradually fell into a state of disrepair. The owner of the Ceretto Winery decided to hire two well-known artists, Sol LeWitt and David Tremlett, to turn the abandoned chapel into a piece of contemporary art. The artists' fee? Bottles of Barolo wine from the Ceretto family cellars!
Your tour will carry on with a visit to "The Cube" at Ceretto's Bricco Rocche Winery in Castiglione Falletto. "The Cube" is a modern, hi-tech work of art in an inimitable setting. Designed by the Turin architectural firm, Deabate, it is fully-transparent landscape architecture presented as sculpture and blends beautifully into the surrounding countryside. Here, only Barolo wine is produced, for an annual production of 40,000 bottles.
Next stop will be Ceretto's headquarters at the Monsordo Bernardina Winery right outside Alba. Housed in an 18th century farmstead, this project is a magnificent combination of tradition and innovation. Architect Giuseppe Blengini was inspired by the colors of the vines and the fascinating irregularity of the vineyards to create a state-of-the-art space dedicated to wine production and hospitality. The visit includes a wine tasting.
A delicious lunch of traditional Piedmont dishes, accompanied by an exclusive selection of wines, concludes the tour. The setting is Ristorante La Piola in Alba's beautiful Piazza Duomo, right in the center of town.
