teatro filarmonico Verona
Everything was well organized, we could pick up our tickets at the box office, had a wonderful look at the orchestra and enjoyed listening to a perfect new year's concert. We recommend "Select Italy" for trips to come.
A spectacular joy

My wife and I recently spent 3 weeks in Italy and one of the experiences we scheduled was to take in an opera at an Italian opera house. The only opportunity that worked with our schedule was The Magic Flute at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona. We were staying in Venice at the time. We traveled by train to Verona enjoyed the limited sights before a 3:30 pm performance. The opera house was a delightful building that only further enhanced the joy of seeing a Mozart masterpiece. The staging was wonderful and the cast performed their roles beautifully. We really enjoyed the whole experience. There really is nothing like catching an opera in an Italian opera house. The magic still lives with us.

We loved the theatre and the orchestra was superb, modern, interesting and very, very enjoyable!
About the Theater
This historic theater in the heart of Verona, at the corner of the Piazza Bra, has had a difficult life. Beginning in 1716, Teatro Filarmonico served as the city's opera house for three decades until in 1749, a devastating fire razed the theater. It was rebuilt and reopened in 1754 only to be destroyed again 191 years later during an air raid in 1945. Determined, the community rebuilt the historic theater and in 1975 raised the curtain once again.
Today, Teatro Filarmonico is part of the Arena di Verona organization and from October to May, serves as the venue for performances during the Arena's off-season. About 70 operas, ballets and concerts are presented each year, featuring some of the most internationally renowned artists, in addition to the Filarmonico's own repertory Orchestra, Chorus and Ballet Corps. Additionally, some symphonic events will take place at the nearby Teatro Ristori.
