  • Intimate opera Phil Spalding (Portland, Maine - Maine US)

Attended La Boheme in this intimate space. Marvelous performers and so intimate one thinks you are in the scenes. St. Mark's is conveniently located and the staff were wonderful in accommodating any needs.

  • Molto bello! Ann Molnar (Toronto, Ontario - Ontario Canada)

Attended La Traviata with a university choir group. The MC made us feel very welcome. Beautiful singing in an intimate setting in a spectacular city.

  • Nice relaxing evening Pam (San Angelo, Texas - Texas USA)

My sister and I enjoyed the performance very much. The venue was perfect, small, intimate. The performers, singers and pianist, were a pleasure to watch and truly seemed to be enjoying themselves. Overall a nice evening and I would recommend it.

  • Wonderful Night at the Opera! Jennifer (Markham, - Canada)

This is a very intimate and well organized venue, situated in the heart of the city. I watched La Boheme here and had a fantastic evening! I was seated in the second row and a rather tall gentleman was seated in front of me. I asked the organizers if I could change seats because of this and I was easily and readily accommodated. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the performers are professional and lovely to watch.

  • Memorable night at St. Mark's Sean (Bossier City, Louisiana - Louisiana U.S.A)

Amazing atmosphere at the Opera and an unforgettable experience. The singers were top-notch and everyone performing was very personable. I would go back in a heartbeat!

About the Theater

Founded in 1877 by the English community, St. Mark's Church is a unique and intimate setting, a jewel of different architectural styles. This church provides a very special atmosphere for concerts, allowing the audience to enjoy the performance close to the artists on comfortable seats. The church is part of an old Medici Palace that was owned by Machiavelli, renovated in a neo-renaissance style with beautiful icons. In 2012, a new Open Air Summer Festival is organized at the amphitheater of Villa Strozzi. Enjoy the beautiful music performed by an orchestra and an amazing panoramic view under the stars, just a short distance from the Florence city center.
