Experience the Roman Forum under the moonlight with this after-hours tour.
Experience the grandeur of ancient Rome as never before: until October 28, 2016, small group tours of the Roman Forum by night are available on Fridays. This rare spectacle is made possible by a sophisticated system of LED lights that was installed throughout the Forum this spring. English-language guided tours take place every Friday at 9:45PM, 10:15PM and 10:45PM, and last about 75 minutes.
Ranging in color from a golden light effect to soft white, 450 individual LEDs have been skillfully positioned so they enhance the architectural details of each monument. The lights run from the Arch of Titus at one end, down the Via Sacra to the Arch of Septimius Severus at the other end, and the pure drama of the frieze of Romans carrying off the menorah during the Sack of Jerusalem will not be soon forgotten.
Please note that the price includes One Select Italy Gift Certificate valued at $5.00. Select Italy Gift Certificates have no inherent cash value and can only be redeemed once on Select Italy's website. Select Italy Gift Certificates are not transferable.
The English-language tour is available on Friday at 9:45PM, 10:15PM and 10:45PM.
The tour lasts 75 minutes, after which visitors will have to leave the archeological site.
