This traditionally superstitious country is not wanting for traditions, promised to bring luck upon all that practice them. Read on for some curious traditions in Italy:<\/p>\n<h2>The Meal: <em>Cotechino e Lenticchie<\/em><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The evening begins with a traditional dish, \u201c<a title=\"The easiest, but spectacular recipe for New Year's Eve! Lenticchie and Zampone!\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/notes\/select-italy\/the-easiest-but-spectacular-recipe-for-new-years-eve-lenticchie-and-zampone\/478982457860\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">cotechino e lenticchie<\/a>.\u201d <em>Cotechino<\/em> is a delicious, savory, fresh pork sausage, typically sold either partially pre-cooked or raw.\u00a0 The meat itself consists of \u201clo\u00a0<strong>zampone<\/strong>,\u201d the actual hoof of the pig, and is a symbol of abundance and bountifulness as represented by the meat\u2019s high fat content, richness, and flavor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>Lenticchie <\/strong>(lentils) are believed to bring good luck and prosperity in the coming year to those who eat them on New Year\u2019s Eve.\u00a0 These tiny oval-shaped legumes, reminiscent of gold coins, represent the money that one will earn in the coming year. Needless to say, the more you eat, the better off you\u2019ll be financially!<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">The Dessert: <em>L&#8217;Uva<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>The dinner concludes with dried fruit and grapes. According to tradition, having\u00a0<strong>grapes <\/strong>present on the table during New Year\u2019s ensures that those sitting at the table will be wise and frugal spenders of money.
