From the surviving fresco of the "Last Supper" to the terraced gardens and infinity pool with its infinite view, Villa San Michele is a feast for the eyes. In the 15th century it was a monastery and today it is one of Europe's most fascinating hotels - an oasis of peace located only 20 minutes from the busy center of Florence.
Forty-six rooms, including 25 Suites and Junior Suites, located in the old monastery building and nestled amid beautiful, terraced gardens, each with its unique style and antique furnishings, await you. Custom-made walnut or cherry furniture, king or queen beds, handmade parchment lampshades, curtains of the finest cotton and upholstery in a color scheme of warm pastels are the attributes of these spacious rooms that overlook either the courtyard, the countryside or the city of Florence. Each room has a large marble bathroom with a separate shower and some have private terraces. The incomparable Michelangelo Suite stretches the whole length of the facade and boasts a huge, canopy bed and a stone fireplace.
Dining on the terrace of the Loggia Restaurant with its spectacular view will be one of the most romantic experiences of your entire trip. It serves seasonal Tuscan cuisine and homemade pasta, mushrooms and meat are the house specialties. There is a poolside restaurant for lazy, summertime lunches under the olive trees while the villa's three bars serve classic cocktails, vintage liqueurs and light snacks.
A small gym allows you to expend some energy without missing out on the beautiful view. There's a complimentary shuttle that departs the Villa every 20 minutes to whisk you into Florence but with earthly delights like these, it may be hard to tear yourself away.
