I’ve recently returned from the beautiful Aeolian islands and I’d like to share with you these images from my trip. A cluster of seven small islands situated off the northeast coast of Sicily, the Aeolians are known mostly to connoisseurs, sailors and scuba divers who flock here from all corners of the globe. Italians, too, love their rugged and varied beauty, and often select them as the destination of choice for their summer vacation.
The Aeolian islands were literally born from the sea through multiple volcanic eruptions over thousands of years. One of the earliest settlements in the Mediterranean, today each of these 'daughters of fire' has attracted its own circle of diehard fans. From hip to secluded, from families to lovers of nightlife, from hikers to those who want to be coddled with luxurious spa treatments, the Aeolian islands cater to a multitude of tastes and preferences. Overall, a spectacular sea, a delightful cuisine and an unequivocal Sicilian flair make these islands an ideal place to relax and restore a sense of peace within oneself and the world.
