About the Verona Arena
Select Italy was just fine, getting the tickets I requested. I would however prefer to have the tickets mailed instead of having to pick them up.
As a regular opera goer, my wife and I were very disappointed with the staging of Aida. The modern presentation did not make any sense, other than trying to "wow" us with the vastness of the stage. The mechanical animals made me laugh; people walking around the stadium with glowing balls were totally mechanical.
Finally, absolutely do NOT book side seats... they were hard, harsh and cramped, making usual airline seats appearing roomy! Few years back I was seated in the center orchestra, but they were either way too low below the stage, or too far from the stage. In short, for those regular theater goer, the arena should be used for gladiators.
Nevertheless, it is still a venue to be experienced at least once.
