The rolling hills of the Langhe region set the scene for this full-day guided tour that shines the spotlight on the noble Barolo, known as the 'King of Wines and Wine of Kings.' In the past 15 years or so, Barolo has really come into its own. Recent harvests have produced astounding vintages, the fruits of which are currently being enjoyed by wine drinkers worldwide.

Starting from and returning to your hotel in the Langhe area, this tour begins in Grinzane Cavour where you'll visit the impressive 13th century castle that houses the Enoteca Regionale and an ethnographic museum. The castle has historic ties to both the production of Barolo and to the unification of Italy. Your next stop will be the little village of Barolo where you'll visit the historic cellars of a renowned Barolo producer. A wine tasting will follow.

After a short walk to the Falletti di Barolo castle, erected in the 10th century, you'll visit another winery. The tour gets to the village of La Morra right around lunchtime and your guide will be happy to suggest a local osteria where you can sample some traditional Piedmontese specialties.

A last winery visit and tasting follows to help broaden your appreciation of the subtleties of Barolos from different producers and of different years of production. Your final stop for the day is Alba, world famous for its association with tartufi bianchi (white truffles). Here you'll have a guided tour of Alba's historic center with ample time for shopping along the Via Maestra.
