For over eight generations the Tasca d'Almerita family has been bringing Sicily to ready glasses worldwide. Considered a hallmark of Sicilian wines and recently named Vini d'Italia's Winery of the Year, the Tasca d'Almerita name is synonymous to the highest quality wines from the region. Their diligent commitment to the grapes, from vineyards to cellars to tables, results in award-winning wines from all five Tasca estates, each which proclaims the distinct geographies of the island: from the volcanic soils on the slopes of Mt. Etna to the expansive countryside of Regaleali to the dusty earth of Palermo.

Your week begins at the stunning Hotel Villa Carlotta in Taormina, the cliff-side town described by Goethe as "a corner of paradise." Continue with an afternoon visit and tasting at the Tascante vineyard, where interpretations of the Nerello grapes perfectly interpret the volcanic soil on which they grow. The visit is followed by dinner at the acclaimed Osteria Nero d'Avola in Taormina, whose wine list of over 240 Sicilian wines and acclaimed Chef Turi's seasonal dishes continue to dazzle the likes of international diners.

Your tour of Sicily continues after a morning excursion on Etna with the arrival at Tasca d'Almerita's centrally located Regaleali, the winery's principle producing estate since 1837. The grounds are completely self-sufficient, and the fresh local products are highlighted in your cooking course conducted at the culinary school of published author Anna Tasca Lanza. Your stay at Regaleali also includes an inside look at the expansive vineyards with a tasting of the fine wines produced from indigenous varietals such as Nero d'Avola to awarded international varietals like Chardonnay.

The week's subsequent stay in Palermo begins with an introductory tour of the vibrant capital city, deeply colored in history and tradition, before a final tasting at Sallier de la Tour, lauded for its production of Monreale DOC. The estate brings home the notion of perfect terroir in its Syrah and pays tribute to the historical variety of the Marsala area, Grillo. The Tasca d'Almerita experience concludes with a dinner at Palermo's 16th-century Gagini Social Restaurant, whose mantra includes "passion above all for the knowledge of nature and its laws" and whose seasonal, fresh dishes display a commitment to Slow Food and Sicily's abundant cuisine.
