Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake getting married in Puglia

Puglia is making headlines these days – why? Well, its beautiful coast, historic towns and delicious Southern Italian regional cuisine are enough to focus our attention on this part of Italy any day of the week, but now superstars too have tuned into the many charms of Puglia (Apulia in English). Well, at least one superstar: Justin Timberlake has tied the knot with Jessica Biel in Puglia. Timberlake, an entertainment powerhouse who has gone from Star Search to Sexyback and beyond, has finally proven his “travel” star power by selecting Puglia as the setting for his wedding.

Italian newspapers report that the wedding took place at the fabulous seaside resort of Borgo Egnazia. The Borgo Egnazia is located on a scenic yet relatively short stretch of coast between Bari and Brindisi. And it’s not the only place for travelers to hang their hats here: consider a stay at the amazing Masseria Torre Coccaro, located in a historic manor house dating from the 16th century. Originally built as a stronghold against those feisty Turks, it has now been converted into a 5-star luxury resort. Surrounded by olive groves and almond trees, the Masseria offers its guests an authentic experience of rural Italy. The courtyard boasts a chapel built in 1730, as well as a vegetable garden, beautiful stone portico and an outdoor dining area.

All the rooms are furnished with antiques outfitted with all the amenities expected of a 5-star resort. Junior Suites have a stone fireplace, while Suites are situated in the tower and are distinguished by original barrel-vaulted ceilings and a balcony overlooking the sea. And in Puglia, they don’t overlook food: the resort’s four restaurants serve locally sourced foods like Murgia lamb, fresh fish caught in the Adriatic waters, typical Apulian cheeses, and fruits and vegetables grown right on the estate. Elegant Mediterranean cuisine is served in the Egnathia and Le Palme restaurants, while there is poolside dining at the Cabana Restaurant and an oyster bar and sushi at the Coccaro Beach Club.

Puglia is similar to a place like Rome or Venice in that the longer you stay, the more there is to discover. Another great hotel option on Puglia’s “V.I.P. Coast” is the Masseria Torre Maizza. It is located in Savelletri de Fasano and the beach where Justin and Jessica had a happy pre-wedding gathering with several of their V.I.P. friends. The five-star Masseria Torre Maizza is less than a mile from the beautiful southern Adriatic coast. During the 16th century, the Masseria Torre Maizza served as a watchtower against the invading Ottoman Turks and Saracens. Today it is surrounded by olive groves, orchards, and vineyards – a truly tranquil environment for a wedding, honeymoon or simply as a special vacation escape. The trulli of Alberobello, and “white city” of Ostuni are nearby.
The 28 rooms all come equipped with free wireless internet access, perfect for keeping loved ones back home up to date on your travels. Also included are goose-down pillows, bathrobes, organic toiletries, LCD satellite television, an extensive CD/DVD collection, as well as a daily newspaper of your choice – among many other amenities. A full service Aveda spa is located within the property, offering a wide variety of treatments and massages for guests.

For those who like to play a little golf while on vacation, you’re in luck! The hotel offers an executive 9-hole course and full practice facilities. You can relax at the wonderful outdoor pool or the hotel’s beach lounge (including sushi and oyster bar). Here, you can find chairs and umbrellas right on the water. The bar services the beachfront, allowing you to order up snacks and drinks – delivered directly to you. A private yacht is also available, taking guests to the grottoes of Polignano a Mare – one of Puglia’s many historic and intriguing seaside towns –and the ancient harbor of Monopoli.

Start planning your Puglia escapade now – and who knows, you might even catch sight of Justin and Jessica on a repeat visit to this new sunny and beautiful celebrity magnet!
