About This Property
The Solarola, a sunny yellow villa, as its name implies, in the flat countryside around Bologna is, in a word, "perfect." Gracious host Antonella Scardovi took over the vast family property, transforming one of its two turn-of-the-century villas into a private home and the other into a guesthouse with five double rooms, a restaurant, living room, billiard room, outdoor gazebo, and beautiful swimming pool.

Located just 45 minutes north of Bologna, Locanda Solarola is a perfect location from which one can explore the historically rich region of Emilia-Romagna. The Byzantine mosaics of Ravenna, the famous Duomo of Modena, the culinary treats of Parma and the impressive monuments of Ferrara are all within easy reach of Locanda Solarola.

Antonella has decorated the guest villas to be romantic and refined, yet warm and inviting. Each room is named after a flower and everything-wallpaper, botanical prints, fluffy comforters, motifs on lampshades and bed frames, bouquets, and even room fragrance - conforms to the floral theme. Victoriana abounds in details such as antiques filled with china, lace curtains and doilies, dried-flower bouquets, old family photos, and Tiffany lamps. Guests will feel like they are in a friend’s well decorated home. The restaurant serves excellent fresh, creative cuisine prepared by Antonella. There is also a lovely swimming pool located on the property. Close to Bologna but secluded in the countryside, this offers an excellent location to enjoy this beautiful bucolic area.

Our Full-Service Portfolio requires 3 business days in order to confirm availability and finalize a reservation. For RUSH requests (4-7 days before reservation date) there will be an additional fee of $20. Also, please note, in all cases we require a minimum of 1 business day to check availability and generate quotes.

For RUSH requests (within 7 days of reservation date) there will be an additional fee of $10. If your reservation is for a date in the next 72 hours (3 days) we will require a credit card to generate your quote.
