Located inside a building that belonged to the Borghese Princes and was later home to the noble Roman families, this property was entirely renovated and opened as a hotel in 1998. Discreet in its position and charming in its style, the Hotel Fontanella Borghese is located in one of the most impressive corners of 16th-century Rome. With views looking upon the Borghese Palace, the hotel is in ideal proximity to explore the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, and Piazza Navona as well. The renovation of the property was carried out with taste and great care, resulting in 29 beautifully furnished rooms in a quiet luxurious setting.

The hotel’s name reflects the triangular-shaped piazza in which it is located - directly in front of the imposing Palazzo Borghese that leads to the Spanish Steps. The enormous doors of this 17th-century building open up to a courtyard where the elevator to the lobby is located. The small, elegant lobby has a sitting corner and a sweeping spiral staircase leading up to additional rooms on the next floor. This impressive hotel is conveniently situated in the historical center of the city known as the Campus Martius. All of the most important monuments of the city are within a short walking distance, not to mention the dizzying array of fine restaurants and elegant boutiques.

The guestrooms have sparkling new bathrooms, modern amenities, such as satellite TV and air conditioning. Many rooms are appointed with an antique desk or armoire and beautiful prints of Rome. An effort was made to preserve the original gray-marble floors in some rooms, while parquet flooring was put in the others. Most have a view of a narrow and very characteristic cobblestone street or of the inner courtyard. The reception area leads to the breakfast room, with its marble floors and matching faux-marble doorways.
